Behind The Scenes of A Tuck In Project

Have you ever wondered what goes into making a TUCK IN design project? From the first consult meeting, to mood board mockups and the final room transformation reveal meeting, there is lots of work and creativity that goes in to creating someone's dream space from start to finish.
We wanted to give you a peek into what this design and consult process looks like for us here at Tuck and for our clients. We think that Tracy and Julien’s moody and whimsical bedroom design featured in our October TUCK IN Issue is the perfect project to use as an example for the process of how our TUCK IN services work. This edition of our online magazine takes a deep dive into the couple’s dreamy bedroom, the inspiration behind the design, and the process of making over this space!

First Consult Meeting:
Like any Tuck Interiors project, it all begins with the consult! We met Tracy and Julien in their home, and had conversations about how they want to use their space, the challenges they've faced in the room, as well as their design and aesthetic likes and dislikes. We sometimes joke how the initial home consult can feel like an interrogation since we ask as many questions as possible so we can give our best advice. During this home consultation, Judith learned that Tracy, a dedicated ER doctor, and her husband Julien, a Music Therapist, were embarking on a new chapter and wanted to refresh their bedroom.

They hadn’t done anything with their bedroom space since they purchased the house, but they both knew they wanted a peaceful room. With Tracy’s demanding shift work, they needed a space that would merge tranquility with style, and importantly, one that could be dark enough for restful sleep at any hour. They envisioned a bedroom where they could truly unwind and recharge—a serene retreat that reflected their busy lives.
Following the consult, it was off to the races to create a detailed proposal for the couple to review. This includes digital display boards and a detailed shopping list outlining every recommendation, all easily shoppable and sourced through Tuck for a seamless one-stop shopping experience to help save their time and energy.

A Focus On The Smaller Details:
After the general design of the room is done and the mood boards and shopping has been completed, we then spend lots of time perfecting the tiny details in the space. We believe these are what truly add unique touches of personality and charm, and it is these small details that finalize a transformation.
“The little details that Judith recommended make me smile. We asked for hooks by the bed and Judith found these lions that are so sweet but also really functional. The trays on the bedside table don’t just look lovely, but having them there has stopped me from constantly knocking my glasses to the floor.”
– Tracy

Focusing on the small details is very important, like the hooks and bedside trays Tracy mentions. Additionally, incorporating keepsakes such as the small black and white checkered box that Julien gifted to Tracy when they were dating helps to bring a sentimental feeling to the room while still matching the space's aesthetic.
