4 Tucks Tips For Back-To-School Organization:
1. Practical (And Stylish) Decor
Let's face it, dorms and work spaces are often very small, so your decor should do more than just look good—it should help maximize your space. Think about incorporating decorative baskets, hanging shelves, over-the-door hooks, and lots of other fun organizers. Here are some of our favourite storage and organizational products that will still add to your space's decor aesthetic.
Bonus tip: Wall space is the one area where you don’t have to worry as much about storage, so we recommend using it to add a more personal touch to your room. Add pictures of family and friends as well as some aesthetic art prints to make your dorm feel more homey. Even unique mementos like cards or receipts from a special place can add a fun touch. For spaces where you can't use more common wall-hanging tools, command hooks and velcro strips are a good alternative that won’t damage the paint or leave behind any residue, unlike other options like tape or sticky tack.
2. Faux Plants (The Perfect Dorm Companion)
Dorm rooms aren’t exactly known for their ideal plant-growing conditions. Between limited natural light and the time you’ll spend away during breaks, real plants can be tough to maintain. That’s one of the reasons we're so obsessed with faux plants - they bring all the greenery and none of the hassle!
Even outside of the dorm, read this blog to see why we think that faux is the way to go.
3. Cozy Bedding
After long days of classes or meetings, your bed should be a sanctuary. Pile on the pillows and cushions to make your bed feel soft and inviting. Particularly those with roommates, getting a simple duvet cover to match and be cohesive with each other but then add personality with your own throw pillows, blankets, and stuffed animals. This helps to keep the room from feeling mismatched while still being homey and showing each of your personal styles!
4. The Dorm Bathroom Struggle Made Easier
Even essential items like a shower caddy or trashcan don’t have to compromise on style. Our Woodrow Trash Can, for instance, is not only more visually appealing than plastic options but also useful for your dorm room.
We understand that sharing a communal bathroom is one of the challenges of dorm life. However, a good shower caddy and shower flip-flops can make trips to the bathroom easier and less stressful. And if you manage to get a private bathroom, maximize the space with an over-the-toilet shelf and extra shower shelves. A foldable dish rack is also handy for compact dishwashing.
