Before & After: A Bold Refresh of a Light-Filled Sunroom

Sometimes one bold choice can shift the entire feeling of a space. In this sunny sitting room, it was the introduction of wallpaper, paired with a few key updates, that helped turn a simple corner into a cozy, lush, sunroom and home office.

This room, as seen in our July issue of TUCK IN, already had so much going for it. The large windows, natural light, and two of our Gus* Lodge Chairs created a great starting point. But the homeowners, Jen and Dave were looking for an injection of ‘wow’.

When we got involved in this project, we were excited to work with what was already there while bringing in a fresh perspective.

Before: Ethereal White to Botanical Beauty

This room already had a lot going for it—bright white walls, tiled floors, and plenty of natural sunlight. We had actually worked with Jen and Dave on the décor here ten years ago! But over time, things change. With the shift toward working from home after Covid, and their garden flourishing just outside the windows, they were ready for the inside to reflect that same beauty. They wanted a space that felt mature yet inviting, and functional enough to work from without sacrificing comfort.

Our goal was to add character and coziness without starting from scratch. We focused on building off what already worked—especially the Lodge Chairs, which were in perfect condition despite years of use due to quality craftsmanship of Gus*.

The Consultation and Plan:

Digital display board created post TUCK IN Consult.

During the TUCK IN consultation that Jen and Dave booked, we visited their space and discussed their goals and budget. From there, our team worked to create a tailored plan for the family and their space.

The transformation started with a single choice: Diderot Wallpaper in black. Once that was up, the whole room instantly changed. We chose this wallpaper to help bring the outdoors in, since this is a sunroom after all.

The floral and encyclopedic details feel organic, however the background keeps it moody and sophisticated. It’s natural and romantic, but also grounded and unexpected. The pattern also pairs beautifully with the sunlight streaming in from the large windows. It draws your eye in without overwhelming the space.

After: Wallpaper, Warmth & a Whole New Mood

To complement the wallpaper, we added the Rubix Ottoman. Its raspberry tone adds contrast and a pop of energy and colour into the space. It also functions as a coffee table, foot rest, or extra seating. The rattan Lauren Floor Lamp brings warmth and texture, while also making this reading corner practical for evenings spent here with a cup of tea and a good book.

Together, these additions brought new life to the space. And best of all—we didn’t need to replace the chairs. The existing Lodge Chairs still looked beautiful and felt brand new. We simply styled them with new mustard-hued accent pillows.

This refresh, alongside the rest of Jen and Dave’s home as seen in the July issue of TUCK IN,  proves you don’t need to start over to transform a room. Sometimes, a clear vision and few well-chosen updates are all it takes.

A Small-Space Home Office That Works

Additionally, we helped make this space multi-purpose, functioning also as an at-home workplace, where on the other side of the room, we paired the minimal Liv Desk in Oak with the Snug Dining Chair. This compact home office setup is both practical and beautiful. The desk fits neatly along the wallpapered wall and adds a clean surface for work. With a few small accessories and plants, it became a productive yet stylish spot, and the wallpaper behind the desk helps keep the area feeling connected to the rest of the room.

Bonus Tuck Tip: We love the detail of matching the laptop’s screensaver to the wallpaper in the room for ultimate cohesion!

Final Touches To Bring It Together

After restyling the built-in bookshelves to hold a mix of books, plants, and personal items, as well as adding in some fresh florals like a bouquet of hydrangeas, this room now feels finished and full of personality. It’s moody, welcoming, and peaceful, while still feeling bright—just what a sunroom should be.
