A Lived in Living Room Transformation

About this project:

This client approached us after years of struggling with their living room layout. The space in question came with a unique set of design considerations: multiple entrances, a long rectangular footprint, a fireplace, and windows anchoring both ends of the space. While the homeowners had lived with the room for some time now, they never felt confident that the layout of the furniture fit both the room and their needs. Additionally, the space didn’t reflect their bright, relaxed, and welcoming personalities and style.

Our approach was all about unlocking the room’s potential that was already evident in its features. We helped to transform this room by incorporating a combination of fresh paint in a new cohesive colour palette, wallpaper for added visual interest, updated furnishings and lighting to brighten the room, and carefully curated décor. Taken together, the lounge now felt more polished and personal.

BEFORE:

Perhaps the most impactful change of this space: relocating the TV from above the fireplace to the opposite wall, allowing the layout of the entire room to shift. This simple design decision improved the flow throughout the room and let the fireplace reclaim its role as a focal point rather than a supporting character.

Ultimately, these changes resulted in the living room feeling more balanced and inviting, a design that worked with the room's architecture instead of around it, and better aligned with the warm presence of the clients.
