Oriental Bittersweet – Terracotta – Invasive Plants in NB – Ryan Livingstone

This new series of work is inspired by invasive plants found within the New Brunswick landscape – that may leave you unsuspecting. From fragrant and colourful flowers, vines with impressive climbing abilities, to the beautiful leaves on the plant that produces exploding seed pods.

Each wooden plate is about 10 inches x 10 inches. The image is carved into the plate using wood carving tools. This is called a relief print. Ink is then applied to the surface of the plate, but not to any of the recessed areas. Then the plate is put in contact with paper and is processed through the printing press. The paper pulls the ink off the plate capturing the image.
