To follow yesterday’s blog, we wanted to share with you 5 different table settings using placemats from Hester & Cook, available through Tuck. These adorable placemats make us all swoon and squeal because the artwork is just so beautiful! Packaged as 24 sheets ($43/ pack), the paper placemats can be used all year round and for any occasion.
For the following place settings, Judith wanted to tie in natural elements from her surroundings to give it that “cottage-feel”. This is a great opportunity to get outside and take a look at what can be used in your own backyard as table decor.
About Hester & Cook
Hester & Cook started in the home basement of husband and wife team Robbie and Angie Hester Cook. What began as Robbie’s inspired idea of crafting a vintage doorknob into a bottle stopper soon became the company’s first product, KnobStoppers. Within months, Angie and Robbie introduced the product to the wholesale market. In 2008, they introduced their first paper placemats.
1 | Gertrude
Gertrude is Judith’s favourite, along with the rest of the team! Leaving space so that we can see Gertude, Judith paired it with the beloved JAW Pottery Collection, made by Jessie A. Wright in Halifax. As a nod to the grass crown that Gertrude is wearing, Judith also added some Spanish moss to the planter from Cedarcrest, twigs from the garden to the vase, and a nest, found in the yard, filled with Felted Blue Jays from Tuckamoor Wildcrafts / Good Fibrations to put on the plate.
2 | Baby Owls
Is there anything cuter than baby owls? The answer is yes; baby owls with flowers on their heads! Judith layered the Baby Owls placemat with a JAW Pottery plate, a delft plate, and a silver bowl that she found at Habitat for Humanity. The silver ring holder was also found at Habitat from Humanity while the Grey Napkin is from EQ3. The goblets are vintage Peter Powning and the colours, along with the thrifted plates, all fit with the hues in the placemat.

3 | Angie’s Party
Keeping it simple so as to not take away from Angie’s Party, Judith used an EQ3 Acre Napkin to correspond with the blues in the placemat, a 16th century mortar that she got at an auction, and a silver heart-shaped spoon given to her by a dear friend. To fit the party theme, she included some Genever from Amsterdam to be chased down with Innis and Gun in the Saucy Pots Pottery from Shop Visitors.

4 | Lemons
These Lemons placemats are perfect for spring and summer! The punch of yellow is bright and fun and easy to pull from. Judith put the Heart-Shaped Bowl on top of a Grey Linen napkin, to keep with the light theme. The EQ3 Boniface Vase in Yellow filled with dried eucalyptus from Galbraith Florist and Renwil Ogilvy Candleholders pair nicely, too. And we love that she added the sweet owl from Good Fibrations, adding another soft texture to the setting.

5 | Natural Farmer’s Market
Keeping with a garden theme, Judith paired the Farmer’s Market Placemats, which displays an array of root vegetables, with two Bee Mugs available at Tuck, a cotton-fiber dish towel by Emily McCumber from Good Fibrations, and wooden N-Product Uptown Coasters from Tuck. As a centrepiece, she used a Large Dust Boniface Vase filled with dried hydrangea, which is a nice natural touch! The tin rooster was found in the garden!
