From the Archives: Ustation, a curated shared space located in Uptown Saint John featuring Gus* Modern Mix Modular seating!

BEFORE 

Here is the space before Ustation moved in. Located on Prince William Street with windows overlooking the Saint John Harbour, the space housed countless business for over 140 years.

AFTER  

Before we get into the after photos from Ustation, there are a few people we’d like to thank.

Now, on to the after photos. Out of respect of the history of the 140-year-old building, we chose to preserve the space as much as possible keeping the walls, ceiling, and floors. We installed some modern details, brought in modern furniture, added new lighting, and incorporated some pops of colour with paint, artwork, and carpet tiles.

The only painted wall in the space is this dark feature wall painted Benjamin Moore Twilight Zone 2127-10, which acts as a back drop for a wall mounted TV and an Umbra Flora Link installation.

The lower section of the space features Gus* Modern Mix Modular seating, perfect for anyone who prefers to work in absolute comfort. Nothing in the space, not even the custom planter, is fixed to the floor. This allows Glen & Jeff to rearrange the room however they wish to suit their needs.

We commissioned artist, Chris Lloyd, for this painting in the style of his latest series of “Map Paintings”, derived from Google Maps locations. Selected geographic areas from Saint John and surrounding areas are paired with a word or phrase, in this case Union Station, which is integrated into the texture and pattern of the painted map image. Through these works, Chris attempts to draw connections between physical places with less tangible thoughts and memories, using a colourful and playful palette to emphasize form, composition and pattern.

To introduce subtle pops of colour, we chose to paint the exposed pipes running the length of the room in 5 Benjamin Moore colours: Sun Porch 2023-30, Turquoise Haze 2060-60, Seaport Blue 2060-30, Tangelo 2017-30, and Vermilion 2002-10.

A kitchenette complete with coffee machines and branded Ustation mugs will help you stay caffeinated. The wall above the kitchenette features EQ3 Spy Mirrors and EQ3 Metro wall sconces.

CONFERENCE ROOMS & BREAKOUT ROOMS 

In addition to the large communal room, there are smaller conference spaces and breakout rooms for members. These feature dry erase boards, adjustable desks to sit or stand, and TV’s.
