Before & After: An interview with Patrick Farren about his first home makeover!

A client who quickly became a friend to all of us here at Tuck. Patrick lives in a Saint John home with his dog, Ophelia. Patrick purchased the home in November of 2019 and while it had all the features he was looking for, he knew something had to change aesthetically to make it his own but wasn’t sure how to go about doing that.
Which is where we came in! We helped Patrick make cosmetic changes to personalize his home without going through any major renovations. Living Room Before
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]This house ticked all the boxes in terms of the features Patrick wanted but it didn’t reflect his personality. It was like living someone else’s home. Living Room After
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]The first step in this makeover: paint everything Benjamin Moore Oxford White. In doing so, the home became a blank canvas and removed traces from the previous owners. White paint can do wonders for any room. It brightens it, makes it feel open and spacious, and modernizes.
The next step was to add elements to reflect Patrick’s personal style like the Benjamin Moore Twilight Zone accent feature wall, which serves as a lovely back drop to the new EQ3 Climb Ladder Shelving system (from Tuck), housing his records and sound system. At first he wanted to replace the flooring, backsplash, and countertops but we assured him that all he needed was some paint. The existing flooring, countertops, and backsplash that Patrick was ready to replace have taken on an entirely new look. Again, simply painting the walls white, bringing in new furniture, replacing the ceiling light, and hanging new drapes was all this space needed. [/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Painting over the wood cabinets in the kitchen meant the need to reintroduce warmth in the dining area which we did using the EQ3 63″ Harvest Dining Table in solid oak (from Tuck). This modern farm house table is perfect for Patrick, who has always envisioned himself owning this style dining table. The Harvest table has the option to add 2 leaf extensions on either side, each one measuring 18″.
