18 Apr What We’re Loving at Tuck: Tufting

We’re starting off the week with more inspiration from our team. In case you missed it, we recently shared our homage to white, “Happiness Writes White“. This week, we’re going to share with you one of our favourite upholstery styles, tufting!

Tufted furniture has been a staple of design for many years – particularly prominent in one of our favourite styles, Mid-Century Modern. Originally, tufting was introduced to furniture as a means to secure loose fibres and prevent cushions from losing their form. The same is true today! Not only is this style about visual aesthetic, but it proves to be functional as well.

a. moooi The Golden Chair (pricing available upon request)

“Under a mysterious magic spell, a retro school chair is dipped in enchanted golden nectar, which washes away its austerity and crows it with a shiny aureole. Isn’t this a typical school time wish, while looking out the window and hoping for a fairytale to begin?”

We’ve recently partnered with moooi in our latest design exhibition: Tuck Interiors. Stay tuned to see some of moooi’s gorgeous pieces in person – coming May 2017!

b. Gus* Modern Atwood Lounge ($1200)

The Atwood Lounge is a tailored design which features a blind-tufted seat and back, along with piping details which lend to a clean, sophisticated look. Perfect on its own or paired with the Gus* Modern Atwood Sofa to create a Bi-Sectional

Also, Tuck Studio is the exclusive brand partner for Gus* Modern for New Brunswick and we accept layaway (with no interest!) on your terms! Just ask us!

d. Mah Jong by Roche Bobois (aka: one of Judith’s all time favourite sectionals!)

“The Mah Jong was created to provide freedom of form and function. By encouraging people to arrange the elements to what suits them best, the Mah Jong can change the landscape of a living room, offering a whole new approach to the way we view and arrange the spaces in which we live.
The composition choices are limitless, giving one the opportunity to completely reorganise one’s living space, thereby redefining the original meaning of the term “sofa”.
The 3 basic elements of the Mah Jong can be combined, aligned with each other and grouped as one wishes. Seat cushion, straight back or corner, one can play with shape and the height to create the desired composition: corner sofa, straight sofa, armless sofa or day bed.”
