20 Mar What we’re loving at Tuck: Happiness writes White
We’re starting off the week with inspiration from our team. In case you missed it, last week we shared our homage to black, “Black will always be the new black“. This week, we’ve done a 180 and turned to white for our inspiration!
Happiness Writes White
Our co-worker Joshua jokes by saying he could be completely happy living in a white box. Truth be told, he’s not joking: he is completely drawn to an all-white space, as minimal as he could possibly get in terms of colour and clutter.
We know Joshua isn’t alone! Almost unequivocally, our residential interiors end up with some degree of white wall. We’re drawn to the possibilities of the clean lines and the opportunity to allow art, furnishings, and decor to pop on this white ‘canvas’! We often recommend Benjamin Moore CC-30 Oxford White, and that you paint the ceiling, walls and trim the same colour.
This was an article featured on HGTV of our client’s home makeover, done entirely in white. Take a look through the photos of the project and you’ll see the different layers of white and how the project turned out!
e. TU225 Darren Emenau ($90)
- TU 225 – 5”l x 5”w x 6”h
Tuck is pleased to carry a number of Darren Emenau’s one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces. These porcelain, stoneware and earthenware pieces — known for their distinctive “crackled” surfaces — are fabricated from clay dug by Darren himself. We have a number of Darren’s pieces in various shapes, colours and sizes, so be sure to pop by Tuck and see our entire collection!
This fresh wallpaper is perfect for the upcoming spring season. It features matte flowers on a sheer background and is absolutely stunning. We installed this wallpaper on the wall of our old location for our spring launch in 2015. See the rest of our 2015 launch here.
g. Lori Harrison White Noise Print ($90 unframed)
“Over the course of a year or more, while working on my laptop in coffee shops around the city, I overheard many conversations and was struck by how personal yet universal they are. I imagine that similar conversations play out every day in gathering places everywhere.”
This piece captures these “conversations overheard” and reproduces them in a continuous stream of text that entirely fills the approximately 19” x 25” page. All 1,182 words.
This treatment is called blind deboss (letterpress) which means that the type is literally pressed into the paper, without ink. The effect is that, in some light, the piece looks like a blank sheet. In other light, the words emerge — to be either read or appreciated as a texture.
The geometric base lends an air of modern edge. Use with plants or on a desk to hold stationary. Comes as a set of 2. Also check out the Trigg Wall Vessels, which are also available through Tuck. Get them in white/gold or copper/concrete and in small ($35) and large ($40) sizes!
